Whether you're using a My Passport, My Book or even My Cloud, WD recommends using Apple's Time Machine back up software. In this video, Matthew will take us through how to get Time Machine setup. A backup can be created by copying or drag and dropping a file from one location to another. With this method, you manually keep your files up to date by re-copying the new data to the destination. This is covered in Topic #2 above. Another way to backup your data is to use software. It’s amazing how quickly my 64 GB iPhone fills up with just the photos. Especially Live Photos. The best thing you can do for your photos is to enable cloud backup. I recommend using – it’s built right in. If you’re looking for a completely free option – is also an awesome alternative. But I also like to have a local backup of all my photos. And because my Mac is the 128 model (never again), I can’t really dump 40 gigs of photos on there. That’s where my 1 TB external hard drive comes in. I periodically back up my photos to the external hard drive (last time I did was right before ). If you want to do the same, follow the process below. Windows users can check. Step 1: Connect Your External Hard Drive To Your Mac First, connect the hard drive to your Mac and make sure it shows up in the Finder’s sidebar. Copy something to the hard drive from the desktop just to make sure it works. If it doesn’t then it might not be formatted to use with a Mac (most external hard drives aren’t). If that’s the case, you’ll need to first reformat the hard drive to FAT format. Step 2: Connect Your iOS Device To Your Mac The first thing you need to do is connect your iPhone or iPad to your Mac using the USB to Lightning connector you got with your device. Step 3: Launch Image Capture Image Capture on Mac is one of the most underrated utilities. To launch it, search for “Image Capture” using Spotlight search (using Cmd + Space shortcut). After you launch it, find your iOS device in the left sidebar and click on it. You’ll now see a list of all the photos on your iPhone or iPad right there. You can either use the keyboard shortcut Cmd + A to select all or just individually check mark all the images you want to import. Step 4: Select Destination By default, photos will be imported in the Pictures folder. Citrix Workspace app is a new client from Citrix that works similar to Citrix Receiver and is fully backward-compatible with your organization’s Citrix infrastructure. Citrix Workspace app provides the full capabilities of Citrix Receiver, as well as new capabilities based on your organization’s Citrix deployment. 64 bit citrix receiver for mac. ![]() Click the drop-down, and select “Other”. Now select the folder in the external hard drive as a source. Step 5: Click Import Click the “Import” button and wait until the transfer is done. Not sure how to set it up on your Mac or maybe you are thinking about buying one and want to know whether it would work on your Mac. The answer is yes! Don’t worry in 10 quick steps I’ll tell you how to format WD My Passport for Mac. One of the first things to note is that there are two main versions available of this external hard drive. The first is preformatted and is called simply WD My Passport. Incidentally it is the cheaper version to buy. NTFS as a disk format (also referred to as a file system) is designed to plug into a Windows PC. NTFS version The drive in this format is readable by a Mac but cannot be written to by a Mac. But don’t worry this default file system is easy to change with a little bit of know how, a few clicks of your mouse and of course this article. The second version the WD My Passport comes in is a ‘for Mac’ version. This means it is preformatted at the factory to HFS (Hierarchical File System) version It is worth bearing in mind that HFS and Mac OS Extended (Journaled) file system are one and the same. It is just that Mac OS Extended (Journaled) file system is how the file system is referred to on the Mac within its menus. It is designed to be ‘plug and play’. Plug into your Mac and just use the disk. You do pay extra for this preformatting and in my experience I have occasionally found that you end up reformatting anyway because – Well a Mac is just a Mac and sometimes they just want the disks on them they have formatted themselves You need to format the NTFS version of WD My Passport for a Mac and the second you ‘may’ need to format depending on how your Mac feels, so why not save yourself some dollars and go for the cheaper NTFS formatted version?
